The Atlanta plant is the first of many plants for Nexus and is where we currently operate the company’s initial commercial production facility. The Atlanta plant is doubling its capacity over the next 12 months with its next generation technology as well as extensive growth in the Company overall with the building of new sites.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support the development of engineering and construction packages for facility expansion and buildouts. The role will be the primary lead on specification of fixed/rotating equipment including pumps, piping, storage tanks, and pressure vessels.

This role reports to Nexus Circular’s Lead Mechanical Engineer in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Design and specify piping systems between unit operations.
  • Specify process equipment including pumps, tanks, and vessels.
  • Review and approve Vendor/Contractor vessel calculations.
  • Make recommendations on other equipment as necessary based on relevant codes and standards.
  • Develop maintenance procedures for pumps, tanks, vessels, and piping for reliable operation.
  • Develop inspection plans for pumps, tanks, vessels, and piping.
  • Ensure designs and details are safe for field erection and use, with constructability in mind.
  • Participate in the review of Management of Changes, PHA Action Requests, Construction Information Requests, and Change Order Requests.
  • Lead equipment vendor qualification process for new fabricators.
  • Assist with local, state, and federal permitting applications.
  • Potential to travel to other Nexus locations as required (~10%).

Education

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering

Experience

  • Previous experience designing chemical process operations.
  • 5+ years’ experience with piping design and specification.
  • 5+ years Previous experience with fixed/rotating equipment design and specification.
  • 5+ years Previous experience with API standards related to pumps, tanks, vessels, and piping (API 510, 570, 650, 653).
