We are looking for an Analytical Lab Manager to join our team!

Nexus Circular is the commercial leader in advanced recycling technology that converts landfill-bound plastics into circular feedstocks for the production of sustainable virgin plastics for packaging and other applications. Nexus Circular’s end-to-end solution is economically validated as demonstrated by consistent bulk sales of high quality, ISCC Plus circular feedstocks for virgin plastic production. The Atlanta plant is the first of many plants for Nexus and is where we currently operate the company’s initial commercial production facility. The Atlanta plant is doubling its capacity over the next 12 months with its next generation technology as well as extensive growth in the Company overall with the building of new sites.

This role reports to Nexus Circular’s Director of Engineering here in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of ISO9001 and ISO17025 programs and Quality Management System
  • Manage chemical regulatory processes (SDS generation, REACH registrations, etc)
  • Manage local, state, and federal registrations for new products
  • Develop framework for multi-site QA/QC processes and standards
  • Manage daily activities of the Atlanta Quality Control and Testing Lab
  • Mentor and train QC Analysts to perform the required testing
  • Develop standard operating procedures, calibration and maintenance procedures for lab equipment
  • Make recommendations for additional equipment as necessary
  • Lead supplier material testing and qualification for use in the main process
  • Test plastic samples from various vendors and company produced products for make-up, yield and quality
  • Provide gas sample analysis
  • Develop and write reports/procedures for a variety of people and groups
  • Develop new testing protocols and procedures
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency; schedule paid time off so that department remains functional
  • Assist with local, state, and federal permitting applications


Requirements

Education

  • Master’s of Science or PhD in Chemistry Degree

Experience

  • Previous experience creating Standard Operating Procedures for analytical equipment
  • Previous experience creating Calibration Procedures for analytical equipment
  • Previous experience in ISO 9001 and/or ISO 17025 certified labs
  • Previous experience managing/implementing a Quality Management System

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Self-starter with strong initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects on different timelines
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, purpose-driven, collaborative environment
  • Must have strong lab experience and knowledge of lab safety
  • Should have experience using various types of analytical equipment (GC/MS)
  • Have the skills needed to operate and maintain equipment
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn manufacturing processes
  • Must have strong report writing skills for multiple audiences
